RESUMO

Lipoma is a common type of benign soft tissue tumor that can occur in the shoulders, neck and back, in addition to other body parts. The Retzius space is a small anatomical space between the pubic symphysis and the bladder located extraperitoneally and filled with loose fatty connective tissue. Giant lipomas are rare in the Retzius space. A 61-year-old Chinese male arrived at Beijing Yanhua Hospital (Beijing, China) due to frequent urination, and CT scan images of the lower abdomen observed a large pelvic mass and left inguinal hernia. Preoperative clinical manifestations and auxiliary examination suggested that the tumor originated from the urinary bladder wall. The maximum tumor diameter was ~25 cm and abdominal pressure was increased. Therefore, laparoscopic pelvic tumor resection combined with inguinal hernia repair was attempted. Intraoperatively, the tumor was found to originate from the Retzius space and the postoperative pathological diagnosis was lipoma. The present case report may serve as a reference for minimally invasive treatment of this type of rare disease in future.

The problems of laser source frequency drift (LSFD) and phase noise in distributed acoustic sensor (DAS) make it difficult to recover the true vibration phase curve, which limits its application scope in the field of seismic exploration. In order to suppress the influence of phase noise and phase drift on the phase signal and improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the phase curve, this paper proposes a method based on symmetric extreme value expansion, symplectic geometry mode decomposition and Pearson correlation coefficient (SEE-SGMD-PCC). Firstly, the mathematical principles and processing flow of the SEE-SGMD-PCC algorithm were introduced, and the effectiveness of this method was verified through multiple sets of simulation experiments. Secondly, The DAS system implemented using digital heterodyne coherent detection technology was used as the experimental platform, and the phase drift and phase noise sources of the phase signal were analyzed in detail. Next, in single frequency and multi frequency vibration signal experiments, compared with other methods, the SNR of the phase signal is significantly improved, and the phase information is effectively restored. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed method was demonstrated through two on-site experiments. The proposal of this method further promotes the application process of DAS in complex seismic exploration environments.

Background: Many studies have reported that bariatric surgery may reduce postoperative cardiovascular risk in patient with obesity, but few have addressed this risk in the Chinese population. Objective: To assess the impact of bariatric surgery on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in the Chinese population using the World Health Organization (WHO) risk model, the Global risk model, and the Framingham Risk Score. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data collected on patient with obesity who underwent bariatric surgery at our institution between March 2009 and January 2021. Their demographic characteristics, anthropometric variables, and glucolipid metabolic parameters were assessed preoperatively and at their 1-year postoperative follow-up. Subgroup analysis compared body mass index (BMI) < 35 kg/m2 and BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2, as well as gender. We used the 3 models to calculate their CVD risk. Results: We evaluated 61 patients, of whom 26 (42.62%) had undergone sleeve gastrectomy (SG) surgery and 35 (57.38%) Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery. Of the patients with BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2, 66.67% underwent SG, while 72.97% with BMI < 35 kg/m2 underwent RYGB. HDL levels were significantly higher at 12 months postoperatively relative to baseline. When the models were applied to calculate CVD risk in Chinese patients with obesity, the 1-year CVD risk after surgery were reduced lot compared with the preoperative period. Conclusion: Patient with obesity had significantly lower CVD risks after bariatric surgery. This study also demonstrates that the models are reliable clinical tools for assessing the impact of bariatric surgery on CVD risk in the Chinese population.

Background: This study aimed to systemically explore the risk factors of secondary infection/recurrence after ablation in patients with liver cancer. Methods: Relevant literature in PubMed, EMbase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched with keywords including "liver cancer or carcinoma," "ablation," "infectious or infection or recurrence," and "risk factor or relevant factor or correlative factor or influencing factor." Meta-analyses were performed and forest plots were drawn for risk factors, including the tumor size and location, number of tumor nodules, hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels, serum alpha fetal protein (AFP) levels and serum albumin levels, Child-Pugh Class, and lack of antiviral therapy. A funnel plot was drawn to assess the publication bias. Results: A total of 23 studies were included from the initial 701 potentially relevant articles. Our meta-analyses showed that a large tumor size (odds ratio [OR] = 1.58; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.31-1.92); proximity to the colon, large vessels, and large hepatic vein (OR = 4.10; 95% CI: 2.26-7.43); multinodular tumor (OR = 2.10; 95% CI: 1.46-3.03), the higher HBV DNA levels (OR = 1.34; 95% CI: 1.09-0.64); higher serum AFP levels (OR = 1.56; 95% CI: 1.18-2.05), lower serum albumin levels (OR = 1.67; 95% CI: 1.06-2.65); Child-Pugh Class B and Class C (OR = 1.27; 95% CI: 1.05-1.54); and lack of antiviral therapy (OR = 1.75; 95% CI: 0.93-3.28) were associated with an increased risk of post-ablation infection/recurrence in patients with liver cancers. Conclusion: Our results indicated that the tumor size and location, number of tumor nodules, HBV DNA levels, serum AFP levels and serum albumin levels, Child-Pugh Class, and lack of antiviral therapy were the risk factors for post-ablation infection/recurrence in patients with liver cancer. Here, we have provided directions for the clinical prevention of secondary infection/recurrence in patients with liver cancer who underwent ablation therapy.

The role of microbiological factors in the development of neurodegenerative diseases is attracting increasing attention, while the relationship remains debated. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize and evaluate the associations between microbiological factors and the risk of neurodegenerative disorders with an umbrella review. PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane library were used to search for papers from the earliest to March 2021 for identifying meta-analyses and systematic reviews that examined associations between microbiological factors and neurodegenerative diseases. AMSTAR2 tool was employed to evaluate the methodical quality of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The effect size and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were recalculated with a random effect model after the overlap was recognized by the corrected covered area (CCA) method. The heterogeneity of each meta-analysis was measured by the I 2 statistic and 95% prediction interval (95% PI). Additionally, publication bias and the quality of evidence were evaluated for all 37 unique associations. Only 4 associations had above the medium level of evidence, and the rest associations presented a low level of evidence. Among them, helicobacter pylori (HP), infection, and bacteria are associated with Parkinson's disease (PD), and the other one verifies that periodontal disease is a risk factor for all types of dementia. Following the evidence of our study, eradication of HP and aggressive treatment of periodontitis are beneficial for the prevention of PD and dementia, respectively. This umbrella review provides comprehensive quality-grade evidence on the relationship between microbial factors and neurodegenerative disease. Regardless of much evidence linking microbial factors to neurodegenerative diseases, these associations are not necessarily causal, and the evidence level is generally low. Laser scanning projection can project outlines of assembled components onto a work surface accurately, which can improve assembly efficiency, and is widely applied in industry manufacturing. In order to achieve accurate calibration and projection, a mathematical model of the calibration process is developed, and the dual-diameter fitting method is proposed to extract the central positions of retroreflective targets. Then, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is introduced to solve the coordinate transformation matrix between the world frame and the projector frame, and the optimal parameters of the PSO algorithm are obtained to improve the convergence probability of the transformation matrix solutions. The maximum error of the retroreflective targets' central positions between the calculated and theoretical positions is 1.82×10-6mm through the simulation experiment. Furthermore, a novel laser scanning projection setup and a control system based on LabVIEW are developed. Experiments are actually carried out by scanning six retroreflective targets on a standard workpiece, and the transformation matrix is solved correspondingly. The results indicate that the maximum beam steering angle error between the theoretical and actual values calculated by the abovementioned transformation matrix is 5.215668×10-9 degrees. Finally, the projection accuracy is verified by a standard workpiece with accurate patterns. The experiment results prove that the position error of the developed laser scanning projection system is better than 0.5 mm.

INTRODUCTION: Increasing studies have demonstrated that noncoding RNAs, including miRNAs and lncRNAs, have vital roles in mediating cancer progression. However, the expression features and biological functions of LINC00689 in gastric cancer (GC) remain largely unknown. This study was designed to investigate the functions of LINC00689, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 as well as their interactions in GC. METHODS: Real time PCR(RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of LINC0068, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 in both GC tissues or cell lines. Gain- and loss- of functions of assays were conducted to verify the role of LINC0068, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 in GC development. Cell proliferation were determined by CCK8 assay and transwell assay and scratch wound-healing assay were used to test cell invasion and migration. Further, the relationships between LINC00689 and miR-526b-3p, miR-526b-3p and ADAM9 were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and then proved by Luciferase reporter assay and RNA Immunoprecipitation(RIP) assay. RESULTS: We found that LINC00689 was upregulated in GC tissues and positively correlated with advanced tumor stage and tumor size, while miR-526b-3p was downregulated. Furthermore, gain- and loss-of-function experiments revealed that LINC00689 promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of GC cells, while miR-526b-3p had the opposite effects. The underlying mechanisms indicated that LINC00689 functioned as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR-526b-3p in GC cells. Further investigations confirmed that ADAM9 was a direct target of miR-526b-3p and positively modulated the progression of GC. CONCLUSION: Our study suggests that LINC00689 functions as a novel oncogenic lncRNA in the development of GC by promoting ADAM9 expression through suppression of miR-526b-3p.

The endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-induced autophagy and apoptosis are favorable for the suppression of many cancer types. Salidroside (Salid) has been proven to be capable of inducing the apoptosis of many cancer cells. However, the underlying mechanisms and whether Salid can activate the autophagic system have still not been explained thoroughly. Herein, the inhibition effect of Salid on the growth and progress of gastric cancer and the underlying mechanisms were investigated. With the SGC-7901 cells acting as the cancer model cells, we ascertained that Salid exerted a superior antagonism effect on the growth and migration of gastric cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, Salid exhibited strong capacity to induce cell apoptosis by the down-regulation of proliferation-related genes (Ki67 and PCNA), increase in the pro-apoptotic protein C-caspase-3, and changing the levels of other related genes. A mechanism study revealed that the levels of the ERS-related genes, such as CHOP, C-caspase-12, GADD34, and BiP, in the SGC-7901 cells dramatically changed post-treatment by Salid, indicating the involvement of ERS in Salid-inducing cell apoptosis. In addition, the increased LC3+ autophagic vacuoles, enhanced conversion of LC3-I to LC3-II, and inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway further confirmed the activation of autophagy induced by Salid. Importantly, the effect of Salid in regulating the levels of autophagy-related proteins or the signaling pathway could be markedly depressed by co-incubating with Wortmannin (Wort), an autophagy inhibitor. The final evaluation of the tumor therapy efficacy exhibited satisfactory cancer growth inhibition by Salid with negligible toxicity to normal tissues. In summary, the present work provides a comprehensive effective evaluation of Salid for treating gastric cancer. The detailed investigation of the underlying mechanisms may offer a rational reference for the future applications of Salid in clinic.
